Pan Seared Steak With Compound Butter

Delicious pan seared steak finished in the oven with a pat of compound butter.

Ingredients
  • 1 2 inch filet
  • 1 tbsp compound butter
  • 2 tbsp oil or olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
Instructions
  1. Coat the steak with oil and sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides.

    Coat the steak in oil.
  2. Pre-heat oven to 450ยบ F. 

  3. Place the pan either on a medium-high burner or on the oven as it preheats to heat up the pan.

  4. Once the pan is heated add oil to the pan and sear the steak on the first side for 2 to 3 minutes.

    Sear the filet.
  5. Optionally, sear the sides of the steak.

  6. Turn the steak and place some butter on top of the steak. Place the pan in the oven immediately. Set the timer for about 4 to 6 minutes depending on the desired doneness. 

    Add butter or compound butter and finish in a pre-heated oven.
  7. Remove from oven and add more compound butter if desired. Let rest 2 minutes and serve immediately.
